Alcohol 5 Steps to Alcohol Rehabilitation in CanadaThere are    5 steps in the fight against alcoholism as follows:

1) Alcoholic’s acceptance of responsibility, 2) Evaluation of alcoholic, 3) Treatment selected, 4) Length of treatment, 5) Aftercare

Every individual who has an addiction problem, such as alcohol, must first admit and accept responsibility for his/ her addiction. This is the 1st step toward one’s recovery. His/her responsibility includes seeking help from a certified treatment or medical center. Whatever center is chosen, the acting physician will evaluate the patient and suggest and/ or recommend the types of treatment the he/ she deems to be suitable. Much will depend upon the type of alcohol consumed, the length of time the individual was consuming this substance, and the severity of the problem. The various types of treatments include, hospitalization to incur a fast deter period, in- house residency at a treatment center, out  – patient therapy at a treatment center, support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, religious group treatments, among others. Again, the length of treatment will be based upon the severity of the individual coupled with his/her strength, as well as  the type of support group that this individual has in regard to family and/ or friends. It is imperative for this recovering alcoholic to continue an “aftercare” program, so that a relapse will not occur. “Alcoholic Anonymous” has a wonderful support group with weekly meetings that will enable an individual to keep his/her strength in times of weakness. Other groups, such as those found in one’s religious sector, also provide very good support. Canada employs all of the above steps in regard to its alcoholics in hopes that each and every substance abuser will be cured. Much pride is taken with each success, since it adds one   more productive link to the Canadian society.
