The Canadian government in relation to alcohol has also tried to regulate the amount of units in alcohol to those which are considered healthy. Alcohol addiction has also affected various areas even in the economy. This is because money has been lost due to reduced labour hours, medical costs and even costs associated with secondary treatment. Alcohol addiction has even caused the rapid increase in motor vehicle accidents. There has also been a rapid increase in alcohol related illnesses.

It makes people also engage in other types of drugs that might even harm their health or even kill them because of the different volumes of intoxicants that they are mixing in their system.

Many people have also endangered their health as a result of alcohol addiction. Liver diseases such as cirrhosis have been on the increase. This has an effect on the community in that people spend a majority of their money and time paying medical bills. A lot of money is spent on alcohol leading to a rise in the levels of poverty thus making the country’s economy worse. The effects of alcohol on community health still remain high. To counter this, most communities have come up with rehabilitation centres and various campaigns of creating awareness on the dangers of alcohol addiction.

The number of alcoholics rising in Canada is high and a lot of awareness programs and campaigns need to be made in schools in order to solve this issue. Alcoholism can be reduced to a minimum only if we choose to cooperate with the government and the people involved in fighting alcoholism. This needs to be done with a matter of urgency before we lose more of our citizens to alcohol.
