When I was a kid I have a big question in my mind why I would be able to do everything when I would be 18. Whenever, I attempt anything Mom says! Don’t do that you are not 18 yet. That was really pinching. But, the night I got eighteen, they organized a party at home and it seems to me that I had come to a paradise. I could do everything; I could drive which was a dream; I could drink; I could go to clubs and so on. But, with the passage of time, I realized that these restrictions are fine for teenagers. Immaturity can lead to many addictions and alcohol is most likely one.
Our body remains fit until we wouldn’t disturb the equilibrium of our body. Everything we eat and drink process in our body through various organs and liver is the major metabolic organ of the body. Excessive consumption of alcohol can lead to destruction of hepatocytes (liver cells). I am not saying that liver cells don’t have the capability to regenerate; off course they do. But, if liver is damage by more than 70% then regenerative capabilities of liver compromise with the beginning of unstoppable events of diseases. That’s why; alcohol addicts have more chances to develop liver cirrhosis. A break in its consumption is necessary for the edicts to give some time to their livers for regeneration before it is too late.
Alcohol is very dangerous for brain I-e Central Nervous System. Unfortunately, brain cells can’t regenerate just like our liver do. Damage done to the brain by alcohol is forever. Although, controlled and periodic consumption of alcohol doesn’t cause much damage but addiction definitely lead to very serious consequences. It can lead to psychosis, schizophrenia, brain syndrome and many more neurological conditions.
Extreme consumption of alcohol makes a person less decisive and more disintegrated. Social dangers are more worrisome. Statistics regarding alcohol addiction reveals that addicts have more tendencies for burglaries, physical attacks, domestic aggression, child abuse, rapes etc.
Shortly, I may say that alcoholism is a menace; enjoyment at the risk of social values is unjustifiable. Addicts should be brought under rehabilitation net so that we can help them and we can keep our society clean from this mess.
